Protect Children WV

During the 2022 West Virginia Legislative Session, House Bill 4600 added a new article relating to the "maltreatment of disabled children by persons in a position of trust to them and directing the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Resources and the West Virginia Department of Education to create a mandatory program for people working with disabled children."

This eight-hour education program is for people "employed in or to be employed in the care, housing, and education of disabled children as well as their supervisory personnel and administrators. Successful completion of the program shall be mandatory for state, county, and municipal employees engaged in the care, housing, and education of disabled children as well as their supervisory personnel and administrators on and after July 1, 2023."
